Sugriva requested Rama to take the helm of Kishkindha. Rama declined, asked Sugriva to be the king and asked him to treat Angada, Vali’s son, as the King in waiting. He also asked Sugriva to treat Angada as his own son.

Rama decided to stay in Kishkinda on top of a mountain during the four months of rain when it is impossible to move around searching for Sita Devi. Once the rainy season is over Sugriva should help in the search. Rama walked up the Pravarshana Mountain along with Lakshmana where they found a cave and made it their home.

Lakshmana told Rama that he would like to be instructed on the Kriyamarga of spiritual life. Rama told Lakshmana that he could do Pooja to Rama in many ways. He told Lakshmana that the whole pooja rituals can be done within the lotus of one’s heart. Pooja can also be done on fire, idols, sun, water, or an altar. A proper Salagrama stone would be ideal. Chanting Vedas, taking bath early in the morning, and conducting all the rituals daily in the morning and evening twilights is needed. If these materials are not there, a drop of water with ultimate devotion will also please Rama.

Offer what you can afford, including a lot of incense, flowers, and sweets. This daily habit will develop devotion, and that would lead to moksha. Even just learning about the kriya marga, is like doing those rituals daily.

Hanuman told Sugriva not to forget his promise. He reminded Sugriva that if he does not fulfil his side of the agreement, he will also face the same fate as Bali. He told Sugriva that he is enjoying life by drinking and spending time with his wife.

Sugriva thanked Hanumanji for the timely reminder and set off messengers immediately in all ten directions and engaged vanaras living in seven islands around the world to coordinate the search. He gave the search party two weeks to return. Hanuman sent out ten thousand mighty monkeys in all ten directions to carry out the search mission.

Rama was upset that Sugriva seems to have forgotten his promise. He vowed to destroy Kishkindha if Sugriva continued to ignore him. Lakshmana was outraged at Sugriva. He set off to Kishkinda saying he would kill Sugriva. Rama asked Lakshmana to first warn Sugriva, gauge his response and inform Rama.

Entire Kishkinda was scared to see the ferocious Lakshmana. Angada ran to welcome him. Sugriva asked Hanumanji to bring Lakshman to the palace and asked Tara to talk to Lakshmana. Tara sought forgiveness from Lakshmana reminding him that Sugriva, after months of exile, must have forgotten his duties while enjoying the kingdom. She also informed him that Sugriva has already started the search. Lakshmana then set off to see Sugriva.

Anjeyanadri is a hill near Hampi in Karnataka which is accepted as the birthplace of Hanumanji. There are also competing claims for the birth place of Hanumanji from Gokarna in Karnataka and Anjanadri in Andhra. Hanumangarh is in Rajasthan. Anjeyanadri near Hampi is widely accepted as the birthplace of Hanumanji. There is a temple on top of a hillock for Hanumanji.

Ramtek literally means the place where Lord Rama stopped or rested. He is believed to have rested here for a while during his exile.

Ramtek is also the location from which Kalidasa is believed to have composed the immortal Meghdoot. The geographical features of Ramtek closely match the description in the verses of the poem.

The Lonar lake and crater were created when a meteorite crashed into earth 5.70,000 years ago. Lord Rama is believed to have visited Lonar during his journey through Dhandakaranya forest. He performed the Shraddha of Dasharath here. Later, Shatrughan kills Lavanasura and sets up his capital here. The name Lonar is a modification of the name Lavanar.

A sculpture of Sugreeva is shown bowing to Rama, Lakshmana, Sita and Hanumaji in this temple. Sugreeva is supposed to have built this temple in gratitude to Rama. He then also installed his own sculpture marking his paying of respect.
