All celestial beings showered flowers and celebrated Rama's victory over Kumbhakarna. Sage Narada appeared in the sky and started extolling Rama's virtue. He called Rama the primordial reality that existed even before the beginning of time. Rama is acting out a play in the guise of a human being, afflicted by the sorrows and pleasures. Creation, sustenance, and destruction occur under Rama but he himself is unaffected by any of these.

He asked Rama to be kind to him and lead him on the path of virtue, courage, and wisdom. Narada wished only to sing Rama’s glory and wander around the world, telling Rama’s stories to keen people, part of Satsang all the time.

The advice Rama gave to Sabari on liberation is repeated through the voice of several characters of Ramayana.

Atikaya was the son of Ravana through his second wife Dhanyamalini. He had obtained a top garment from Brahma which made him invincible. He appeared in the battle in a chariot driven by thousand horses. He started showering arrows and the Vanaras started running away.

Lakshmana resisted him with appropriate arrows. But to his surprise, all those arrows fell with their tips damaged. Vayu went to Lakshmana in the guise of a human and told him about the boon. He cannot be killed by an ordinary weapon and Brahmastra only can overcome Brahma’s invincible top garment. Then meditating upon Rama, Lakshmana used the Brahmastra on the Rakshasa, and he was killed at once.

Ravana had lost his sons and brothers in the battle. Indrajit promised to kill his enemies. Before the fight, he sought advice from his guru and reached Nikumbhila, to conduct a special Yagna to please Lord Mahadeva. He followed the advice from his guru and arranged materials to conduct the ritual and commenced the pooja. Indrajit received the ability to vanish and appear rapidly, along with his weapons and chariot, at wish.

In the battlefield suddenly he would vanish from the scene and start showering Brahma-astras out of nowhere. He killed thousands of vanaras. Indrajit was able to aim and shoot at Rama and Lakshmana successfully. They both fainted and fell to the ground. Indrajit announced his victory for the day.

Vibhishana and Hanumanji walked around in the night to see if there were anyone alive among the thousands of bodies strewn. They saw Jambhavan lying there injured and he was trying hard to open his eyes. Jambhavan asked: "O Vibhishana! Have you seen Hanuman? Is he among the alive?" Vibhishana was curious. "O Mahatma! How come you asked only about Hanuman and not about Rama, Lakshmana, Sugriva, or Angada? Jambava replied: "If Maruti is alive, there is nothing to worry but if he is dead, it is like everyone is dead." Jambhavan then advised Hanumanji to fetch Sanjeevani and three other medicinal plants to revive Rama and Lakshmana.

Hanumanji took off from Mahendra Mountain and crossed Alakapuri, the city of Devas, Meru Mountain, and finally, the Rishabha Mountain.

Ravana came to know Hanumanji’s attempt to fetch Sanjeevani. He asked Kalanemi to disrupt his mission. Kalanemi asked Ravana to take heed to his words. He told Ravana there is no point in living after the death of the entire family. He asked Ravana to return Sita and take to Vanaprastha.

He advised him about the influence of Maya and resort to Satsang which can free them from the spell of Maya. He told Ravana that meditation will give the necessary knowledge for liberation. If meditation is not possible, one can resort to a state of constant devotion to the Lord.

Ravana was naturally furious at the advice.

Kalanemi left Ravana and reached an Ashram created magically in the Himalayas, and he wore the garb of a Rishi. When Hanuman was passing by, he noticed the opulence of the Ashram. HE stopped to drink and eat and to meet with the chief. Kalanemi offered him water but Hanumanji wanted more. Kalanemi sent him to a nearby lake. A crocodile in the lake pounced on Hanumanji who killed the crocodile. An Apsara Dhanyamali emerged from the crocodile and revealed to Hanumanji Kalanemi’s plan to distract him from getting Sanjeevani. Hanumanji went back to the Ashram and killed Kalanemi . He returned successfully with Sanjeevani and revived Rama, Lakshmana and all the vanaras. The Rakshasas had thrown their dead into the sea and therefore Sanjeevani had no effect on them.

After they were revived, Vanaras were ready to play dirty. Angada and Sugriva ordered them to destroy Lanka. The warriors created mayhem in the city. Elephants, horses, and other animals were killed in the fire that broke all over Lanka. Ravana asked Kumbha, son of Kumbhakarna to fight the Vanaras. Nikumbha, his younger brother also joined him. Sugriva killed Kumbha and Hanumanji killed Nikumbha. Ravana then asked Makaraksha to fight and he was killed by Rama with Agneyastra.

Unawatuna is supposed to have vegetation unlike that of the rest of Sri Lanka, but resembling those of Himalayas. The rocks are also supposed to emit a peculiar sound when knocked, unlike that of other places in Sri Lanka. The entire hill is supposed to have plants with medicinal properties which are used even now for making traditional medicines. It is believed that this is the Sanjeevani mountain that was thrown away after resuscitating Lakshmana. The name Unawatuna also means "that which slipped between the fingers." There is another belief that this is one of the spots where parts of the Sanjeevani mountain fell while being carried, similar to Mani Parvat in Ayodhya.

Dronagiri in Uttarakhand is the place where Hanuman ji is not worshipped. The local people are supposed to be upset with Hanumanji as he had desecrated the place by dislocating the mountain and carrying it to Lanka. Even today, there is a reddish discharge from the portion said to have been torn off by Hanumanji, which is a discharge of Sulphur and oil. Ramlila performances stop at the abduction of Sita, since after that the narration involves Hanumanji.
