When a person respects a family life then only he will respect Dharma and accept its teachings.

In our Śāstram, Dharma is is said to be a combination of 3 components

Values: Truth, Kindness, Not to hurt others

Attitude: Behaviour towards parents, elders, peers and also other living and non-living things- should be carefull, reverential, not to take anybody for granted.

Rituals: The actions which we perform with the above mentioned values and attitude in us.

According to Shastram, Ritual is an aspect which holds a family together, its can be as simple as eating one meal together, Sitting together and sharing your day's experience and so on.

If Rituals are ignored then it will lead to Varṇasankaraḥ. Arjuna expresses concern that war would destroy family traditions, leading to the creation of unwanted confusion which would not uphold dharma. Thus leading to the complete downfall of Dharma.

Our belief or non-belief in the Vedic- Rituals does not effect the Law of Karma, it works on its own. For our own well-being we have to believe and follow the Vedic Rituals

Pitru Karma comes under the Pitru Yajnam, where we honour and thank our ancestors for the life they have given us and also to thank them.

Varṇasankaraḥ will create a confusion in people as to what dharma should they follow. There will be no one to guide them about the values and rituals of their Varṇa, thus leading the downfall of the Dharma.

Arjuna felt that if this war happened and he killed the people from the opposite side then all the men dead in the war will not be able to carry forward the values of their Varṇa to their next generation, thus leading to Varṇasankaraḥ, which then will lead to the downfall of values in the society thus finally the downfall of the Dharma. Thus to avoid this, Arjuna decided to not fight the war.

Breakdown of value transmission causes social and ethical confusion.

Varṇa-saṅkaraḥ threatens cultural and dharmic life values.
