To look at my own face I need the help of a mirror (darpaṇam). Similarly to know 'myself' I need Sāstram, śāstra darpaṇam, the mirror of Sāstram

One will know themselves only if they have both - a prepared mind (by identifying their fundamental problem) and exposure to systematic teaching.

A traditional teacher and Śāstram are inseparable. A Guru without Śāstram would not be able to guide a student properly.

Vedanta classifies everything in this world into the triad Jīva, Īśvara and Jagat. Once a person understands the relationship between these three clearly, they are free.
