No, Arjuna was not conflicted about the war at the beginning. He was clear that the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra were adharmis and they needed to be punished. But once both the sides announced their readiness, Arjuna doubted himself thus leading to the Bhagavad Gīta.

War was not the first choice of Pāṇḍavas, nor was it chosen out of Anger or revenge. When Duryodhana's Adharma continued despite repeated peaceful efforts (Sāma, Dāna, and Bheda), the Pāṇḍavas accepted Danda (war) as a Kshatriya's duty to protect Dharma and the society

Kshatriya Dharma is the duty of a Kshatriya, who saves the common people from the people who do Adharma. We common people should not punish the adharmis as that will also be called as Adharma, but as a Kshatriya he is bound with the duty to protect the common people form the people who do Adharma.

Bhagavan Krishna stopped the chariot in front of Bhīshma and Droṇa so that he can clear any doubts in the heart of Arjuna regarding the war and thus the world could receive the Bhagavad Gīta.

Guḍākeśa means conqueror of sleep (Tamo Gunam). Arjuna is addressed as "Guḍākeśa" signifying that Arjuna has conquered Sleep. He could stay awake as long as he wanted and sleep whenever he wanted. This is an important value for a student - to be alert while listening and not become a slave to sleep / laziness.

According to our Dharma Śāstram we have 5 fathers

जनिता चोपनेता च, यस्तु विद्यां प्रयच्छति ||
अन्नदाता भयत्राता, पंचैते पितरः स्मृताः

1.One's biological father(Janita): The man who gives birth to a person.

2.The one who did upanayana for me (Upaneta or Guru): The teacher who performs the sacred thread ceremony (Upanayana samskāra) and initiates one into spiritual knowledge.

3.The one who imparts education/knowledge (Yasya vidyām prayacchati): The teacher or mentor who provides worldly and spiritual education.

4.The one who provides food/sustenance (Annadātā): The person who provides food and necessities, thereby sustaining life.

5.The one who saves from danger (Bhayatrātā): The person who rescues one from a crisis situation.

Any relationship is best only if it gives strength to all involved in the relationship.

If in the relationship, we become a weakness for the other person or the other person becomes our weakness then such relationships will always cause pain, sorrow and sadness .

Ahimsa can not be a absolute value. It cannot be translated into any other language to give a absolute value as non-violence. It is always a relative value.

For a Kshatriya, doing himsa with the goal to uphold dharma and protect common man is Ahimsa, but if a common man does this it is adharma. For a Sanyāsi, Ahimsa is an absolute value where he cannot harm anybody irrespective of the situation.

Thus the value of Ahimsa is relative based on your role in the society.

Once he came face to face with his relatives-grandfather, gurus, brothers, sons, grandsons and friends the thought of losing them all overpowered his thoughts, he could not imagine his life without them. His attachment to his dearly loved and revered ones, made his emotions get the better of his intellect.

Before the war started, Arjuna was very clear in his thoughts about the war that it is being fought for upholding the Dharma and punishing the Adharmis.

But once he came face to face with his relatives-grandfather, gurus, brothers, sons, grandsons and friends the thought of losing them all overpowered his thoughts, he could not imagine his life without them.

This Śoka overpowered his intellect leading to Moha. Thus he questions himself about the purpose of the war. He confided his delusion to Krishna.
