Session 18, Krishnā and Krishna

Session 17, Gandharva, the storyteller

A Gandharva befriends Arjuna, exchanges divine gifts, and narrates the lineage story of Tapati and Samvarana, explaining why Arjuna is called “Tāpatya.” He recounts the long rivalry of Vasiṣṭha and Viśvāmitra, the tragedy of Kalmāṣapāda, and the birth stories of Parāśara and Aurva, highlighting themes of anger, karma, and Brahmana dharma. Guiding the Pandavas on righteous conduct, the Gandharva advises them to appoint a worthy purohita, leading them to choose Sage Dhaumyah.

Session 16, Bhima kills Bakasura, Pandavas head to Panchala

Bhima kills Bakasura. A sage tells the story of how Drupada conducted a Yajna to obtain progeny who will Drona. Vyasa visits the Pandavas and tells them that Draupadi will marry them.

Session 15, Pandavas escape from the palace

Pandavas stay alert and plan their escape from the lacquer palace. Once they escape, they face the difficulties of living in the forest. Bhima meets Hidimba and kills her brother. The Pandavas reach Ekachakra Nagari and take shelter in the house of a Brahmin.
