Guru Purnima Quiz

Today is Guru Purnima, the day of Gurus in the land of Gurus.

The Sanskrit root “Gu” means darkness or ignorance. “Ru” denotes the remover of that darkness.

Guru Purnima venerates Ved Vyasa, the Adi (first) Guru of Hindu Dharma who classified the Vedas, wrote the eighteen Puranas and the Mahabharata.

Kabir Das wrote in Avadhi “गुरु गोविंद दोउ खड़े, काके लागूं पाँय । बलिहारी गुरु आपने, गोविंद दियो मिलाय॥“ – “The Guru and Govind (God) are present before me, to whom shall I bow down first? Glory to the Guru since he showed me Govind”.
